About Us:
The Arc of East Central Iowa is about service, advocacy, inclusion, family and community. The Arc was founded by families in 1953 who insisted their children with disabilities have the same opportunities for schooling, family support, vocational opportunities and housing as any one else. Governed by a volunteer board of directors and managed by a competent staff, The Arc works to help individuals to higher levels of independence and to enjoy full productive lives.
The Arc is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) agency providing comprehensive services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Income for the agency is derived from memberships, contributions, grants, fundraising, program fees and government program reimbursements. People from Linn, Benton, Jones, Iowa, Tama, Poweshiek and Cedar counties are part of our Arc. Mental retardation, epilepsy, autism, Down Syndrome and cerebral palsy are just a few of the disabilities served.
